Tips for a clean result
- Short clips work best: 10 MB holds roughly 60 seconds of 720p, or about 30 seconds of 1080p at watchable quality.
- If the result looks blocky, trim the clip first or drop to 720p or 480p: fewer pixels share the same bitrate.
- We aim a little under the target (about 9.5 MB) because Discord counts in mebibytes and containers add overhead.
Need a different limit? Use the main video compressor and type any size, or work out the numbers with the bitrate calculator.
Questions people ask
What is Discord's upload limit?
Free accounts can upload files up to 10 MB. Nitro Basic raises it to 50 MB and full Nitro to 500 MB. Server boosts can raise the limit for everyone in that server.
How long a video fits in 10 MB?
At 720p with modest audio, roughly a minute at acceptable quality. The video bitrate available is about 10 MB × 8 ÷ seconds, minus the audio. The calculator on the tool shows the exact figure for your clip.
Why does Discord show my video as a file instead of playing it?
Discord embeds MP4 (H.264/AAC) and WebM reliably. Our output is H.264 MP4 with the moov atom moved to the front (faststart), so it previews inline.
Is my clip uploaded to compress it?
No. It is encoded in your browser. The only upload is the one you do to Discord afterwards.
