Compress a video for email
Shrink a video so it fits as an email attachment: under Outlook's 20 MB or Gmail's 25 MB limit. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Drop a video to squeeze
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI, up to 800 MB. Encoded on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Tips for a clean result
- Email encoding (Base64) makes attachments about a third bigger in transit, which is why a 24 MB file can bounce from a "25 MB" inbox. We target 18 MB for a safe margin.
- For anything longer than a few minutes, a shared link (Drive, OneDrive, iCloud) will look far better than a heavily compressed attachment.
- Choose 720p: it looks sharp on phones and laptops and keeps the bitrate per pixel healthy.
Need a different limit? Use the main video compressor and type any size, or work out the numbers with the bitrate calculator.
Questions people ask
What is the maximum video size for email?
Gmail and Yahoo allow 25 MB per message, Outlook.com and most Microsoft 365 setups 20 MB, iCloud Mail 20 MB. Those totals include every attachment plus encoding overhead.
Why did my 24 MB video bounce from Gmail?
Attachments are encoded as Base64 in transit, which inflates them by about 33%. Mail servers measure the encoded size, so aim well under the stated limit. We target 18 MB.
How long a video can I email?
At 18 MB and 720p, roughly two minutes at good quality, or three to four at 480p. For longer videos, share a cloud link instead.
Is my video uploaded to compress it?
No. It is compressed in your browser, so private family or work videos stay on your device.
