Compresso is designed with privacy as a core principle. We minimize data collection and processing to provide you with a secure file compression service.

Data Collection

What we collect:

• None by default. We do not collect any personal information or user data.

Where data lives:

• PDF and Image compression: 100% client-side processing in your browser. Files never leave your device.
• Video compression: Temporarily uploaded to our server for processing, then automatically deleted after 1 hour.
• Compression history: Stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB storage. Never sent to servers.

Data Retention

• PDF/Image files: Never uploaded, never stored anywhere except your local browser memory during processing.
• Video files: Temporarily stored on server for up to 1 hour, then automatically deleted.
• Compression history: Stored indefinitely in your browser until you clear it. Controlled by you.
• Analytics: We use Ahrefs Web Analytics (privacy-focused, no personal data collected).

Third-Party Services

• Ahrefs Web Analytics: Privacy-focused analytics that does not collect personal data or use cookies.
• Google Fonts: Used for typography (Inter and JetBrains Mono fonts).
• No AI APIs: This tool does not use any AI inference APIs or send data to AI providers.

User Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Clear compression history at any time
• All processing happens in your browser for PDFs and images
• Video files are automatically deleted after 1 hour
• No account required, no tracking cookies

Consent

By using Compresso, you consent to:

• Local storage of compression history in your browser (optional, can be cleared)
• Temporary server storage of video files for up to 1 hour (if using video compression)
• Privacy-focused analytics via Ahrefs Web Analytics
